Pax 3 Vaporizer Review

Pax 3 Vaporizer Review
Is the PAX 3 the best portable vaporizer available on the market?

It’s no secret that the PAX 2 set the bar extremely high, so is it worth it to upgrade to the PAX 3?

If you’re a long time vape user, or even a beginner, there’s a great chance you’ve heard about PAX portable vaporizers. Currently, PAX is in it’s third release and believed to be better than ever before and definitely ahead of its competitors. We recently got the latest PAX vape pen, the PAX 3, to check out the updates that were made on it. We used this product over a period of time, under many different conditions, to see whether or not it lives up to its reputation. Here’s our real, honest, and authentic review of the PAX 3.

We cannot start discussing the PAX 3 without acknowledging its preceding vape, the PAX 2. Ploom (the original company) released the PAX 2 back in 2007. It was praised by the vaping market, and known to be one of the best vape pens available to date. This leads us to wonder, how does a company make improvements on a vape pen that already has a stellar reputation across the vaping world?

If you decide to purchase it, the PAX 3 will cost you about $274.99 which is considered pricey for a portable vaporizer. It comes in various colors such as silver, gold, and black. While the PAX 2 has more of a matte outer design, the PAX 3 has more of a shiny high gloss appearance. Aside for the contents in the box, the PAX 3’s packaging has the same premium appearance and luxury feel as its predecessor.

One of the first update we immediately noticed was the new app. You can download it on your phone or tablet, from there you can dial in the exact temperature you want your vaporizer to be set at. The app works very well and is very easy to use. While some might think that having an app that works for a vape pen is going overboard, but I want to remind you that vape apps are becoming very popular and the PAX’s app is much easier to use than over vapes that have many way too many different types of heat settings.

PAX 3 upgrades from PAX 2:

– With the PAX 3, you have the ability to get concentrate chambers in many other formats.
– A half filled oven of flower will provide you with a decent amount of ploom vapor. You don’t have to worry about filling up your chamber to the maximum in order to get a good hit.
– If flower and taste is important to you, you’ll be happy to know that the PAX 3 app is greatly helpful when it comes to taste improvements. The taste settings do a better job at highlighting the terpenes flavor profiles and, making them noticeable in your vape flavor.
– PAX 3 heats up faster than PAX 2 and vibrates when ready for use.
– PAX 3 provides better burn and airflow. You don’t have to worry about leaving any flower behind. All waste is browned equally. Upon extraction, you’ll never get multicolored nuggets.
– The battery life has improved, however, we believe there is still more room for improvement.
– The new app functions on the PAX 3 have improved the overall vaping experience.

We wanted to see how the PAX 3 performed with other formats, therefore we decided to test the concentrates chamber. First we brought out the wax and once the vaporizer was ready to go, we started vaping. Our vaporizer was set at the highest levels just as PAX recommended in their instructions. The vape ploom and the wax was identical to the flower. We’re very happy to report that under the highest settings, the vaporizer performed really well. While using the wax, it gave us consisted hits, and tasted even better than other wax vape pens as well as provided better quality of vapor.

There are so many companies nowadays that primarily focus on terpenes, therefore, it was very nice to see that the PAX 3 not only deliver in intensity but in taste as well.

Overall, the flower is our preferred method of vaping with the PAX 3, as the vaping experience you get is similar to dry herbs and wax. This is great news for those who want a format that’s stronger but do not want to sacrifice on the taste and quality of the vapor. With the PAX 3, your vaping sessions are longer than what other vape pens provide, but be sure to pay attention to the chamber, because after a while of vaping the vape pen tends to get really hot. This is normal but you still want to be careful.

Now, unto the cool high-tech stuff!

We previously mentioned that the PAX 3 app was updated but you might not be aware of what makes it so cool. First, you have the ability to connect through Bluetooth (basically with headphones that don’t have a cord.) Connecting to the app is easy, simple, and straight forward. No complexity there. Once you’re connected to the phone, you can name your vape pen and just like that, you’re ready to dial in.

In case you’re wondering, we named our vape pen, PAX 3 Supervape Hero because that’s what it represents for us and we love it.

In addition to the temperature, you also have the different modes which are fun to use. The mods make it easy for people to get the effects they want without having to mess with the temperature.

The 5 Dynamic Modes:

1. Standard: activates your temperature control settings.
2. Stealth: provides ultimate privacy and discretion.
3. Boost: ensures that your device is performing at highest gear.
4. Flavor: produces the most flavorful and delicious taste.
5. Efficiency: ensures that everything is used and that no drop is wasted.

There’s another feature which we refer to as “Apple-ish”.

It’s the vibrational alert which is identical to the features of the Apple Watch. When you set up your device and turn it on for use, it will vibrate to let you know that its ready to be used. This alert can be very helpful, especially when you’re sitting around, staring at the walls, waiting for your devise to be ready.

With all that said, the question becomes whether or not you should upgrade to the PAX 3?

Time to get real honest.

If you have a PAX 2 that is set up to be dialed in and you mostly use flower, and it’s working well for you, there’s no pressing need to upgrade to the PAX 3 unless you’re an ultimate fan who wants to always have the latest PAX release. Now if you don’t have the PAX 3 or any other quality vape pen and you’re looking to have a high-end vaporizer that is easily portable, comes with amazing features, and provides multiple formats to vape, then the PAX 3 is definitely the right one for you.

Be aware that PAX also makes other vape pens that are more affordable and also smaller that can be used for concentrates. The PAX Era is a great example. It has its own pod system which you can find in many vaping stores in Colorado and California. You can also buy it online. In summary, if you only want to use a vape pen for concentrates and want the amazing features that the PAX 3 provides without paying the high price, then the PAX Era might just be the vaporizer that will be a great fit for your needs.

Davinci IQ Vaporizer Review

In the year 2017, innovation is a word that gets thrown around a lot. This buzzword has been used to describe pretty much everything the tech industry touches, from grocery aisles, to mundane, to the latest online start up, and even space travel—it’s no wonder that the word “innovation” has lost its meaning. And unfortunately, the vaping market is no different, each time there’s a new vaping devise that’s about to come out, the word “innovative” has always been used.

It doesn’t happen often but once in a while there is in fact an innovating vape pen that is released.

Have you ever heard anyone say that the Davinci IQ is the most innovative vape pen you can purchase and wondered whether or not they were telling the truth?

Well, you don’t have to wonder anymore—it’s the truth.

Davinci IQ Vaporizer Review

The Davinci IQ is a truly innovative vape pen. It’s a revelation in material form, a vaporizer that has the capacity to produce incomparable joints. It’s not an accident that this vape pen’s name is the Davinci. It was named after the great Leonardo Davinci, whose name alone evokes a response that needs no explanation.

With a short history, vaporizers have had a long and impressive journey. The groundbreaking Volcano, which sold for about $599 was a desktop appliance that came out in the year 2000. After that, we had the PAX which you could hold in your hand. It sold for about $199 and came out in the year 2014. Once the PAX hit the market, it was often referred to as the “iPhones of vaporizers,” due to its small size and efficiency. From that point on, as they say, the rest is history.

Today, there are so many options available on the market that choosing the right vaporizer can be a daunting task. A great example is the “dab pens” which are easily portable; however, the oils they use are difficult to find. There are also vaporizers that are disposable. You can find those in retail stores in states where the use of marijuana is legal or you can purchase them online. There are also other vaporizers that are handheld, however, they all vary across the board in performance and quality and use oils, wax, concentrates, and even old-school flowers.

If you’re wondering where you’ll find honest and reliable information about the Davinci IQ, then you’ve come to the right place.

The Davinci IQ vape pen retails for about $274.99. Though high priced, it is embedded with advance features that provide an unforgettable vaping experience. This vape pen is truly innovative, a vaporizer that is made with technological advances in mind and still small enough to stay in your hand and easily carry around. Unlike other vaporizers that are cheap, light-weight, and easily breakable, the Davinci’s dense weight screams top quality and performance. It’s stylishly and beautifully designed. You can tell that you have a luxury vape just staring at it.

But make no mistake.

The Davinci IQ isn’t just appealing on the outside. The inside system is just as great as its outer layer if not better. This vape pen consistently produces the best quality vapor I’ve ever had from a handheld device. And the best part of using this the Davinci IQ is that the learning cure is almost nonexistent. This will save you from a lot of frustration—as someone who knows about the frustsreation of using complex vaporizers, I’m thankful that the learning curve for effectively using the Davinci IQ is simple and easy, pretty much straight forward.

The Davinci IQ is manufactured with an all-ceramic zirconia vapor path. In other words, when your herbs are burning up and the vapor is on its way to you, every internal piece that your herb touches never comes in contact with burnt metals or any plastic materials; therefore, there is no strange after-taste. All vapor that is produced is fresh and has authentic flavor.

It’s super easy to pack the Davinci IQ and take it around with you. At the bottom of the unit is a metal slope that surrounds the oven. This makes it easy for grind herbs to fall appropriately into place and the shape of the oven ensures that all of your herbs are burned equally and that no ingredient is burned, causing a waste of materials. The Davinci IQ has a few buttons that are also simple and easy to use. In order to turn on the device, you have to click on the power button five times. The same applies to turning it off.

Depending on the temperature and how much vaping material it contains, it takes the Davinci about twenty seconds to fully heat up. It has four pre-programed “Smart Path” settings that are one of my favorites. The Smart Path settings are demonstrated through elegant LED lights located at the front of the unit. These settings are in charge of heating your device throughout your vaping session from low-to-high temperatures. At higher settings you’ll get thick and large vaping clouds and at lower settings, your herbs will last longer which will also lead to a longer vaping session.

For the most part, I found myself using the second and third Smart Path settings. To me, it was the perfect balance between quality cloud production and delicious vape flavor. If you want to get more precise with your temperature, you can always pair your Davinci IQ with an iPhone app that lets you control the temperature settings. You can also program your Smart Paths profiles to your desired temperature in order to align your vaping sessions to your specific needs.

The battery life is only thing that I’m not too excited about. After two or three full sessions of use, the Davinci IQ will need to be recharged. You can use it while it’s charging, but to me, the point of having a handheld device is to be able to use is free from attachments—basically, it’s to be able to take it around and not having to be tied down to a specific spot. It takes about two hours to charge a battery that has been fully depleted. If you plan on vaping continuously, I recommend getting extra batteries as the batteries are replaceable so you can vape without major interruptions.

The Davinci IQ provides vapor, taste, and temperature at the highest quality. It’s also user friendly, stylish and made with luxury and innovation in mind. This vaporizer is on the expensive side but I believe that all of its amazing features, its vapor production, and quality authentic vapor taste makes the Davinci IQ one of the best vaporizers available on the market. To go further, when it comes to innovation, the Davinci IQ is definitely the best vaporizer you can buy right now.

Firefly 2 vs. Pax 3 Portable Vaporizer Review and Comparison

There are many vaporizers available on the market which is why selecting one can sometimes feel overwhelming. Having the right vaporizer that will be a great fit for your vaping lifestyle will greatly depend on your budget, what your looking for, and what you’re hoping to achieve with your vaping devise.

Firefly 2 and Pax 3 are two vaporizers that are on the high end of the price range.

They have similar features and perform in almost the same way.

Both the Firefly 2 and the Pax 3 claim to be the best vaporizer available on the market, and since they are very similar, we decided to test them against each other and see how well they perform. To properly test and evaluate which vaporizer is indeed the best, we decided to rate them based on operational factors such as heat performance, how functional they were, and how they performed overall.

Heat Performance

Both devices state their customers have the ability to customize the temperature settings to their preference through a phone application connected via Bluetooth which they can download for free.

Temperature Settings

Firefly 2: Gives users the option to select from a total of six different settings, starting with concentrates that are low. Users also have the option of turning the slider up, for more heat and power.

Pax 3: Through the phone app, users are able to choose from a range of 360° through 420° by scrolling through to choose the exact temperature they want.

Heating Time

Firefly 2: it takes about 3 to 5 seconds for the device to heat up once temperature is selected.

Pax 3: it takes about 10 to 15 seconds for the device to heat up once temperature is selected.

Is the Phone Application a Requirement?

Firefly 2: If you choose not to use the app, the device automatically defaults to mid-high heat settings.

Pax 3: If you choose not to use the app, you still have to option of selecting from five different heat settings by pressing on the mouthpiece.

While the Firefly 2 heats up in less time than the Pax 3, our team preferred the Pax 3. With the Pax 3, users have access to a wider range of temperature control. Both devices were super easy to use with the phone app but with the Pax 3’s wide range of temperature control, users have the option of changing the temperature on the device itself. Furthermore, Pax 3’s heat up time of 10 – 15 seconds isn’t the end of the world. You barely notice it. For those reasons, on this section, the Pax 3 is the winner.

Winner for Heat Performance: Pax 3

Ease of Use

Firefly 2 and Pax 3 are both advanced vaporizers that are very simple to use.

Loading Flower

Firefly 2: The loading process is very easy. All you have to do is remove the magnetic faceplate, then put your chosen herbs in the small chamber (that replaces the faceplate) little by little. Afterwards, place one or two fingers on the side sensors to turn on the devise so you can use it.

Pax 3: At the bottom of the vaporizer you’ll find the chamber. To open the oven lid, simply push on one side of the bottom to pop it open. Once the lid is open, load your grind herbs in it and once you’re done, put the lid back on and press the mouthpiece to turn on the devise. This initiates the heating process and when you see that the outer body of the Pax 3 looks green, this is the signal telling you that your vaporizer is ready to be used. If you wish to turn it off, simply press and hold unto the mouthpiece.

Loading Concentrate

Firefly 2: Before loading, select one of the three concentrate pads and place it into the chamber. Then, you can choose your temperature settings by using the Firefly phone application.

Pax 3: You have to put the concentrates insert accessory that serves as a replacement on the normal herb oven lid. You can then set it at your chosen temperature. You also have the ability to press and hold on the mouthpiece. If you’re not using the phone app, you can press on the mouthpiece continuously to reach higher temperature settings.

When comparing the two devices for ease of use and function, both Firefly 2 and Pax 3 perform at the same level. The only slight benefit the Pax 3 has are the various ways that are available for operation. While the Firefly 2 is super easy to use, the heating sensors located on the side of the device, make it difficult to hold on to it “hotdog-style”, taking away from discretion and privacy.

When it comes to functionality and ease of use, the Pax 3 and Firefly 2 are virtually tied.

However, our team has chosen to give a slight edge to the Pax 3 because it has a slim advantage in the different ways you can use and operate it. Even though it’s incredibly easy to use, the heating sensors on the sides of the Firefly 2 pretty much restricts you to holding it hotdog-style, which doesn’t always make for the most discreet use.
On the other hand, the Pax 3 is smaller than the Firefly 2. Its frame is a bit rounder and the fact that it does not have buttons, makes it easy to hold in your preferred manner. There’s also an extra flat mouthpiece that comes in the package which provide users with total privacy when taking their draw in. Furthermore, the Pax 3 allow their users to adjust the temperature settings without having to reopen the phone application. These are slight reasons why our team prefers the Pax 3 over the Firefly 2.

Winner for Ease of Use: Pax 3 (only by a minuscule measurement)

Vaping Experience and Performance

When it comes to inhaling delicious vapor, both devices provide a great vaping experience.

Heat Performance

Firefly 2: Our team was consistently amazed at how fast the Firefly heated up. It only took a few seconds for the light to turn green and for us to start vaping. There were times when it even seemed to heat up a bit too fast. Sometimes at the beginning of the sessions when the Firefly would heat up fast, we would question if it was truly ready, and yes, it was. Once we took our draws, the flavor was always fresh and tasteful.

Pax 3: Depending on how high you select the temperature, the Pax 3 can take a little bit more time to heat up. Also, while its heating up, if you’re holding it in your hand, you’ll notice that it can become warm. No worries. The cool thing about this device is that the mouthpiece has a lip-sensing capability that will boost it to heat up or cool down. This is strictly dependent on whether you are at the beginning or the end of the draw intake of your vaping session. This feature is helpful when it comes to users getting the most out of their vaping materials. It also keeps the vaping substances from heating up way too fast. Be careful though, for the Pax can get pretty hot when set on higher temperatures.

Power Settings

Firefly 2: The phone application gives users the ability to “power tune”, which allows for extra boost, providing users with stronger flavors and thicker vapors. This comes in very handy for those who don’t have much herbs inside of their vaporizers.

Pax 3: In the phone application, you have the option of selecting between various power settings which you can use to give yourself a vaping experience that is more curated. Stealth, boost, and efficiency settings make a great difference in the quality of the vapor production as well as how long your vaping substance can last throughout a session.

Vapor Production

Firefly 2: This vape was not designed for thick cloud production but thanks to its heating chamber that is small and circular, you are guaranteed to have a vaping experience that is joyfully consistent. The chamber is small, only able to hold a little pinch of herbs, which unfortunately can leave you with a burnt aftertaste once you’ve exhausted most of the vaping substance.

Pax 3: If you have this devise set on the right temperature settings, you are sure to have a great amount of vapor but be sure not to set it to the point where the quality of the flavor is affected. Since taste is based on personal preference, we can’t tell you exactly what temperature to set your vape. But what we can say is that the Pax 3 has always left us with a joyful and satisfying vaping experience.

For the overall vaping experience, we found that we enjoyed using the Pax 3 more than the Firefly 2. The Firefly 2 provided flavors that were more consistent but the Pax 3’s thick cloud production left us feeling more dazed which is not surprising since it has a larger chamber than the Firefly 2 which also means longer vaping sessions. While both devices performed very well, the Pax 3’s additional settings gave us the ability to have more control over our overall vaping experience. Therefore, for us Pax 3 wins again.

Winner for Overall Vaping Experience and Performance: Pax 3

Final words

At the end of our testing, we believed that the Pax 3 came out on top. We select the Pax 3 over the Firefly 2 as the better portable vape. While both vaporizers have similar features, functions, and production, the Pax 3 give their users more options while also costing $55 less than the Firefly 2.

As previously mentioned, the Pax 3’s phone application is more flexible than the Firefly 2’s phone application. When it comes to creating the best individual and personal vaping experience, the Pax 3 delivered more than the Firefly 2. Pax 3 also come with fun games you can play on their app while you’re using their vaporizer. This is a great distraction for users who vape alone and are not entertaining anyone but themselves. And thanks to the auto-draw features and the button-less designs, the Pax 3 provide users with the ability to remain discreet no matter where they are vaping.

To be quite honest, you can’t go wrong by selecting either vaporizers.

Both the Firefly 2 and Pax 3 have set high standards when it comes to developing small, portable, and technologically advanced vapes. It’s also important to remember the intention behind the design of both products. The Firefly 2 was constructed to help users get the most out of their vaping substance whereas the Pax 3 is an updated device from its predecessor, the Pax 2, which is already a great vaporizer.

Truthfully, I love both devices and I can’t wait to see what other vaping products Firefly and Pax comes out with in the near future.
